GRAY ABBEY, BANGOR, CO DOWN

Grey Abbey is one of the best example of Anglo-Norman Cistercian architecture in Ulster. It was founded in 1193 and dissolved in 1541 but was reused as a parish church between the early 17th century and late 18th century. The ruins consist of the church with cloister and surrounding buildings dating from c. 1193 to c. 1250,  and there is a fascinating old graveyard beside the ancient Abbey ruins.
